Preliminary Preparation
Define Core Requirements: Determine the intended use (apparel, bags, handmade goods, etc.), dimensions, and desired style (e.g., minimalist vintage, trendy/unique). Have your design assets-such as logos, text, and patterns-ready in advance.
Select Base Material:
Vegetable-Tanned Leather:Offers a warm, tactile feel and develops a natural patina over time; ideal for high-quality, handcrafted custom items.
Split-Grain Leather:Cost-effective and durable; a common choice for leather labels on apparel.
PU Synthetic Leather: Low cost with a wide range of color options; suitable for mass-produced, budget-friendly products.
Mainstream Customization Techniques
Embossing/Debossing:A classic choice for leather. Patterns are pressed into the surface using heat and pressure. Can be combined with gold or silver foil stamping. The mark is permanent and highly durable; suitable for genuine leather and high-quality synthetic leather.
Screen Printing: Versatile application where ink is printed through a specialized mesh onto the leather surface. It is gentle on the material, cost-effective, and supports multi-colored designs.
Laser Engraving: Produces crisp edges and high precision, allowing for intricate lines and text; ideal for creating small, detailed labels.
Thermal Transfer:Capable of reproducing full-color gradients and photo-quality images. The design sits flush with the surface (no raised texture), making it perfect for small-batch customization of complex, colorful designs.
